Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Carolina Beach Events (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates https://carolinabeachevents.com. This page explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. What we collect

When you subscribe to our newsletter we collect:

  • Email address — to send you the weekly Thursday digest.
  • Subscriber type — one of: Visiting, Local resident, Planning a trip, Just exploring. This tells us how to make the content more relevant to you.
  • Consent timestamp — the date and time you ticked the consent box, recorded for legal compliance.

We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment information, or any other personal data.

2. Why we collect it (lawful basis)

We process your email address on the basis of freely given, explicit consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a); CASL s.10). You gave consent by ticking the checkbox on our sign-up form. We record the exact time of that consent.

We use your data solely to send the Carolina Beach Events weekly newsletter. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making.

3. How we store it

Your data is stored securely in Supabase, a SOC 2 Type II certified database provider hosted in the United States. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

We send emails through Resend, which is also SOC 2 certified.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your record is permanently deleted from our database immediately — there is no delay or “soft delete”.

5. Your rights

Under GDPR (EU/UK) and similar laws (CASL, CAN-SPAM) you have the right to:

  • Unsubscribe — click the unsubscribe link in any email. Takes effect immediately.
  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Erasure — request that we delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@carolinabeachevents.com.

6. Cookies

This site does not currently use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. If this changes we will update this policy and add a cookie notice.

7. Third-party links

Our emails and website may contain links to third-party websites (restaurants, event venues, etc.). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

8. Children

This service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will note the updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
